Buhr Family and Station 1 respondersThe last time the Madison Fire Department saw Josh Buhr, the prognosis wasn’t good.

It was July 10, 2014 when Buhr, a construction worker, fell approximately 50 feet from the scaffolding of a downtown project.

“There’s no other way to say it: It’s a miracle he’s here,” said Chad Powell, one of the paramedics who responded to the emergency.

Today, Buhr is doing well and immensely grateful for the care he received following the accident.

Ahead of the two-year anniversary of their first “meeting,” the Buhr family wished to say “thank you” to the Madison Fire Department paramedics and EMTs who helped save Josh’s life.

Though some of the six people who responded to Josh’s call that day have since moved to other stations, many were able to come back to Station 1 to reunite with the man they, at one point, feared they may not see again.

The Buhrs supplied the homemade cake that would follow a delicious lunch put together by Station 1’s Engine and Ladder companies. It was the perfect occasion to catch up and celebrate the remarkable progress Josh has made on the road to recovery.

There’s no question Josh has a bright future ahead and much to look forward to, including his upcoming wedding this August. The Madison Fire Department wishes him and his family continued health and happiness!
