Firefighter Michael SeltznerWhere are you stationed?
I'm at Station 8 (Lien Road) on the 'B' shift.

What attracted you to this career?
My father served 28 years on a small neighboring department so I grew up around the fire service. This gave me an inside look at the comradery and brotherhood that the fire service offers. Responding to calls and helping to turn someone's bad day around makes it all the more rewarding.

Why did you want to work in Madison?
The city of Madison is an amazing community and the MFD is no different. After learning about all the opportunities within the MFD and having several friends currently on the job, it was an easy choice to fill out the application.

What are among the most memorable experiences you’ve had so far at MFD?
As a new member of the Heavy Urban Rescue Team, the most memorable experiences for me so far have been all the training. More specifically, this spring we have had several opportunities to rappel from our training tower at varying heights.
