Five new lieutenants
now serve at a station near you.

We introduce them to you all week long on the MFD blog.

How long have you served with the Madison Fire Department?
I have been with the MFD for 13 years. Ten years as a Firefighter and three years as an Apparatus Engineer.

What is your new station/shift assignment?
I will be stationed at #5 on the A shift.

Why did you want to be a Lieutenant?
Over the past 13 years I have tried to increase my knowledge and gain experience in the firefighting trade, and I felt ready to accept the leadership challenge.

What advice would you give to someone hoping to join the fire department?
I think it is beneficial (not necessary) to take some classes, volunteer, or get into an internship to understand how fire departments operate.

What advice would you give to someone who wants to advance in their career?
Learn as much as you can at each career step that you decide to pursue (Firefighter, Apparatus Engineer, Paramedic) so that you can teach and pass on that knowledge when you advance to the next step.
