MFD Says Goodbye To Retiring Apparatus Engineer Dan McCosky
This week we say goodbye to Apparatus Engineer Dan McCosky, who retires after nearly 32 years of service!
McCosky joined the Madison Fire Department on March 21, 1988. Previously, he was a firefighter at the Milwaukee Fire Department and also served with the National Guard. Before that, he was a volunteer firefighter and EMT at the Maple Bluff Fire Department.
A Madison native, McCosky grew up on the north side and is a graduate of East High School. During his time at MFD, he served at Fire Station 9 (Midvale Blvd.), old Station 8 (North St.), new Station 8 (Lien Rd.), Station 7 (McKenna Blvd.), and Station 13 (Town Center Dr.). He’s served as a firefighter, apparatus engineer, and HazMat technician. He says this career has been a source of great satisfaction and community pride, and he's loved being part of a team helping people.
He looks forward to traveling a bit during his retirement. “I've got an open door for anybody in Maui or Waunakee!”
