Jerry McMullenToday we say goodbye to Jerry McMullen, Fire Prevention Officer and a Leadworker in our Fire Prevention Division. After nearly 18 years with the Madison Fire Department, McMullen will become the next Fire Chief & EMS Director for the City of Monona!

McMullen joined MFD in April 2004, working his way up from Fire Code Enforcement Officer I to IV over the course of seventeen and a half years. He says working for the MFD has been one of the best experiences of his life and led him to get more education and training than he likely would have otherwise.

While working at MFD, he also served Deer-Grove EMS for 15 years, most recently as a Lieutenant Paramedic.

This combined experience, education, and training is what led McMullen to apply to become the next City of Monona Fire Chief and EMS Director.

"As much as I’m going to miss the people of the Madison Fire Department, I am looking forward to ‘being the change’ instead of just talking about what I would do,” McMullen said.

McMullen adds that he has a lot of respect for everyone at the MFD, including the “unsung” people who work to keep our city safe.

“The administrative staff here is top-notch, and all of the support staff truly care about making the city a safer place.”

We will miss him, but we know he won’t be a stranger. We look forward to working with him in his new role at the City of Monona!
