Firefighters turn over dirt at site of future memorialThe Madison Fire Department, in partnership with Fire Fighters Local 311, hosted a ceremonial ground breaking at Fire Station 14, the future site of a new memorial to honor our members who have made the ultimate sacrifice.

Located on the city’s southeast side, the memorial will be a place for our members, families, and community to pay their respects to those who have died in the line of duty. The beautiful and thoughtful design was developed by Local 311’s Memorial Committee with Pechmann Memorials of Madison.

The memorial will be a place of reflection, situated just outside the front entrance of Fire Station 14’s community room. A bronze statue will serve as the centerpiece honoring Madison firefighters who died in the line of duty. Memorial bricks with personalized inscriptions and tributes will surround the statue.

Memorial bricks are still available for purchase at local311memorial.org.

The project is expected to be completed this fall.
