MPD and MFD football teamsThe Madison Fire Department and Madison Police Department squared off for charity at Breese Stevens Field on Sunday, August 5.

A crowd of 297 people came out to cheer us on during the inaugural "First Responders Bowl" and helped raise $1500 for local youth. The proceeds from food sales and other private donations were split equally among East High School Athletics and the Richard Garner Memorial Scholarship Fund.

MFD pulled away with a 14-0 win, but we're already preparing for MPD to try to make a fierce comeback next year!

Prior to the football game, members of MFD and MPD joined coaches from East High School in a football skills clinic geared toward 4th through 8th graders.

This event was co-organized by Firefighter/Paramedic Kevin McDonald (Station 3). Special thanks to Firefighter/Paramedic Anthony Hiller (Station 3), Apparatus Engineer Matt Powers (Station 1), and Firefighter Matt Dykstra (Station 7), who spent their 95-degree Sunday behind the grill!
