Back in August, a Cooper's hawk paid an unexpected visit to firefighters and paramedics at Fire Station 3 on Williamson Street when he accidentally flew into one of the station's windows. Though he tried to shake it off, witnesses knew this hawk needed help.
John Kraak, a volunteer with the Four Lakes Wildlife Center, came over to retrieve the hawk, and we’re delighted to say that after seven weeks of rehabilitation, the hawk is healthy and back home on Willy Street!
The same crew that cared for the hawk after it made its "emergency landing" in August was there to escort Mr. Kraak up to the roof of Fire Station 3 today, where the hawk made a triumphant return to the neighborhood.
