Doctor taking off his air packEmergency medical residents from UW Hospital traded their white coats for turnout gear in the 7th annual Doc Ops Day hosted at Madison College!

Doc Ops Day offers ER doctors the opportunity to get a taste of firefighting life while forging relationships with first responders they may encounter on the job.

Splitting into small groups, the doctors rotate through a variety of training stations and receive hands-on training on a variety of activities.

From hooking a hydrant and fire attack to searching for a 180-pound dummy and bringing it to safety, Doc Ops Day provided real-life experience and perspective on the Madison Fire Department's capabilities. Likewise, firefighters had the opportunity to share their perspectives as EMTs and paramedics whose work often intersects with local Emergency Rooms.
