Brady and his PB&J sandwichEach year, the crews at Madison Fire Station 7 host a dinner for one special kid chosen by Make-A-Wish Wisconsin to spend an evening with firefighters and help open the annual Fire On Ice Hockey Classic hosted by Fire Fighters Local 311.

This year, Station 7’s B shift had the great pleasure of hosting Brady, a third grader from Cottage Grove, WI. Brady loves all things sports, including Badgers Hockey, so it was no surprise to learn he enthusiastically prepared for days to be a part of the Fire On Ice Hockey Classic opening ceremonies!

This is the seventh year of the hockey tournament, and Brady is the eighth Wish Kid to be sponsored by the event.

Before heading to the Madison Ice Arena, Brady enjoyed his favorite meal – peanut butter and jelly sandwiches – homemade by Firefighter Munden.

Later, he and his family joined crews outside to help put up the aerial ladder and watch Firefighter Dykstra climb to the top.

Fire Fighters Local 311 presented Brady with a custom helmet and hockey jersey before he climbed aboard Ladder 7 to be taken to the arena to drop the puck at the start of the tournament.

The Fire On Ice Hockey Classic raises over $20,000 annually for Make-A-Wish Wisconsin.
