AE David GuthrieWhere are you stationed?
I'm at Station 3 (Williamson Street) on the 'B' shift.

Where were you previously?
I was a Firefighter/Paramedic 2 at Station 10 (Troy Drive) on the 'C' shift.

How long have you been with the MFD?
I joined the MFD in October of 2009.

What do you like about your station and/or the territory?
Station 3 is an awesome station. Much like Station 10 where I was previously stationed, we have a very close-knit crew that works hard and always pushes one another to get better. The station is one of the oldest in the city, and much like the crews at the firehouse, the neighbors really take pride in the station. It is a true neighborhood firehouse.

What's the most rewarding aspect of the job for you?
By far, the most rewarding aspect of the job is being able to give back to the people we serve. Every day we are called to help someone when they are at their worst. This requires us to be at our best. That feeling of knowing that we made a difference in someone's life is a feeling of great honor and pride in not only the job we do, but more importantly the people we serve.

What's one of your most memorable moments since joining the MFD?
I would have to say it's been an accumulation of things. Being on the MFD is like having another family. I have been very fortunate to be on a lot of great crews and have had the honor of having a lot of great mentors along the way to help me progress through my career. Without those experiences and the help from my crewmates, I know I wouldn't be where I am today.

What do you do when you're not working at the MFD?
When I'm not at work I spend as much time as I can with my family-- my wife Krissy and my daughters Mya (6) and Ava (3). We try to stay as active as possible with sports, boating, and working around the house.
