Where are you stationed?
Station 11 (Morgan Way) on Shift C.

Why did you want to pursue this career?
I wanted to become a firefighter because I love helping people. In this career, every day presents a new opportunity to help someone in the community.

Why did you want to work in Madison, for the Madison Fire Department?
I wanted to become a City of Madison Firefighter because growing up in Madison made me fall in love with this city. I also had the privilege to grow up with close family friends that were City of Madison firefighters and I knew from a young age that this is what I wanted to do.

What has been the most rewarding part of your experience so far?
The most rewarding part of my experience so far has been experiencing the tight brother and sister bond that exists throughout the MFD family.

Now that you've graduated the Academy, what do you look forward to the most?
I look forward to working with and learning from the experienced members of the MFD.

Looking back at the Fire Academy, what was the most challenging element?
The most challenging element of the fire academy was definitely Smoke Divers week. It was physically and mentally exhausting but, by the end of the week, it brought Class 6 recruits closer together as a team.

What advice would you give to someone hoping to join the MFD?
Be persistent and don’t give up. The process can be draining but it is all worth it in the end.
