The mural depicts two masked Madison firefighters interacting with children, with the word "Community" across the bottomThe next time you pass by on Northport Drive, you'll notice that Fire Station 10 just got more colorful!

A new mural created by Developing Artists, Murals, & Alliances (DAMA) now adorns the south-facing wall of the fire station for all to enjoy. It was developed through a grant from the Department of Health Services to pay tribute to Madison's firefighters, EMTs, and paramedics for their tireless work during the Covid-19 pandemic.

"Our crews really fought through a lot," said Asst. Fire Chief Scott Bavery in a WKOW 27 News interview this January.

DAMA artists, volunteers, and stakeholders joined the crew at the northside fire station to thank them in person and celebrated the mural's unveiling with delicious chocolate ice cream. The perfect treat on a sunny summer day!

The mural was designed by Veronica Figueroa, Executive Director of DAMA, along with a community design team and input from the Madison Fire Department. Many people contributed to the masterpiece at "paint dates" held last year.

The mural is made of wood panels wrapped in polytab. Its durability and weather resistance mean the neighborhood will enjoy the mural for many years to come!

Thank you, DAMA!
