Campers with firefighters and paramedics at Station 4
Bucky’s Firehouse, Station 4, recently welcomed 11th and 12th graders currently attending “Madison Health Careers Camp” through Wisconsin Area Health Education Centers!

This five-day summer camp, held across the state of Wisconsin, allows students to experience firsthand the challenges, opportunities, and rewards of health professions.

25 campers spent time with Engine 4A and Medic 4A learning about pre-hospital medical care. The campers were eager to learn how EMS fits into the overall healthcare continuum.

Lt. Javier Teniente, AE Daniel Storley, and Firefighters Paul Bowers and Adam Lesser did an awesome job giving the campers an overview of a typical day in the firehouse.

Paramedics Patrick Tomko and Eric M. Schrager (EMS!) provided perspective into the rewarding work of our medic units.

While we believe these future healthcare workers are destined to be Medical Directors someday, we could tell they were truly impressed by all facets of the MFD and its services.
