Perfect Harmony Chorus provides gay, bisexual, transgender and affirming people with opportunities to perform chorus music in a supportive and affirming environment, bringing beauty, inclusive values, and great talent to our community. Accepting women for the first time in its history, the group continues its legacy of bringing people together with love and acceptance making our community stronger. You’ll have an opportunity to see them perform December 2nd and December 4th this year. I am proud to honor them and their mission with this proclamation declaring December 4th as Perfect Harmony Chorus day. See the proclamation below. Perfect Harmony

WHEREAS, music and fine arts are vital to the cultural well-being of our nation, our state and the City of Madison; and

WHEREAS, Perfect Harmony Chorus, with the help of a New Harvest Foundation grant, saw 10 brave men performing their first concert during a pride weekend in 1997, beginning their mission to sing to make a better world; and

WHEREAS, the Vision of Perfect Harmony Chorus is "To provide gay, bisexual, transgender and affirming people with opportunities to perform chorus music in a supportive and affirming environment" by presenting unique performances that support the Mission of the Chorus; and

WHEREAS, the Chorus is an important member of GALA (Gay and Lesbian Association of Choruses) through which they proudly act as choral representatives for the City of Madison by performing original works on International stages in Miami and Denver, as the only self-identified gay chorus in the City of Madison; and

WHEREAS, Perfect Harmony Chorus, together with other GALA choruses commissioned and presented "Quiet No More" to our communities, paying tribute to the brave men and women who in 1969 demanded their rights to be treated with dignity and respect; and

WHEREAS, PHC, embarking on their 25th season, welcomes all who seek to achieve the goals of the mission of the organization, by providing a highly convivial and supportive atmosphere to the members of the chorus, both singing and administrative, male, female, or gender fluid; and

WHEREAS, Perfect Harmony Chorus creates, enriches and transforms community through music. We sing to make a better world. The Chorus is proud to be a part of the beautiful City of Madison and all it has to offer.
