I’m fighting to bring Amtrak to Madison. Most recently, I worked with Mayor Genrich of Green Bay to get eight Wisconsin Mayors including myself, whose cities would be served by expansion of the Amtrak Hiawatha line, to send a letter to Congress expressing our enthusiastic support for the project. This is a unique moment in time to take advantage of this opportunity – one that has slipped through our fingers on more than one occasion. The need is here, the market is here, and the many passionate rail advocates and city staff excited for this project are here and ready to make it happen.
