What Voting Looks Like This Year

According to U.S. Census Bureau statistics, 71% of Americans 65 and older voted in the 2016 Presidential election. This is an outstanding turnout compared to the 46% voting rate for 18-29 year olds in the same year. Keep it up, seniors!

Today is Juneteenth. On this day in 1865, the people of Galveston Texas were told the war had ended and that enslaved people were now free. This news came to Texas 2 ½ years after President Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation.
