Recently hired Fleet employees

Since 2017, well over 200 years of City service left the Fleet division due to retirements. This represents large turnover for a relatively small agency.

We are pleased to introduce the new hires and promotions of 2018 that have brought the division back to full strength, and expanded our capabilities by adding to many capable veterans. We look forward to working with our customer agencies to make Fleet greener, safer, and more efficient than ever.

Randy Koch is the new Fleet Operations Manager. Randy has previously spent decades as a Fleet Technician and Shop Foreperson. In his current role Randy oversees all auto repair and parts room operations. He is working with Finance to obtain better pricing from our large private vendor network to save the City money.

Tyson Roessler is the new Fleet Program Manager. Tyson was a Fleet Technician and Fleet Program Administrator prior to his current role. Tyson is the lead on vehicle and equipment acquisitions, including the greening efforts underway such as electric vehicles. He also oversees the fleet management system, budget, and administrative tasks.

Dale Dalby is a new Shop Foreperson. Dale brought extensive mechanical and supervisory experience to Fleet when he joined in 2017 as a Fleet Technician. In his current role Dale is the lead on heavy duty equipment inspection and repair. Mark and Dale were chosen among 27 finalists.

Mark Vander Waal is a new Shop Foreperson. He arrived with hands-on mechanical experience and years of supervisory experience at Metro Ford, which is a fast-paced environment. Mark will oversee the light duty equipment, among several other initiatives.

Brett Rosenau is the new Fleet Program Administrator. Brett spent many years as a mechanic in the private sector and with the Fleet division. In his current role, Brett loads technical data and preventative maintenance schedules into the fleet management system. He helped develop a daily vehicle out of service report, and will participate in other types of operations efficiency analytics.

This year we also hired five deeply experienced Fleet Technicians among a pool of 28 finalist candidates:

Katie Sprecher is our first ever female Fleet Technician, and joined from Chrysler. She is posted at First Street light duty.

Roger Benda is an experienced mechanic with extensive knowledge and experience. He is taking the lead on police car setup and electrical work.

Andy Kopmeyer works at First Street heavy duty. His diesel knowledge is extensive, and he is also a US Army combat veteran.

Jonathan Rosenau is our newest hire, and joined the second shift at West Badger Road auto garage, focused on public works vehicle services.

A fifth technician will be joining the crew in December to round out the 2018 class.

Finally, we have brought on outstanding part-time high school apprentices in 2018 as an educational opportunity- and an opportunity for Fleet to build a pipeline of future talent. They work year-round, and achieve school credit while learning hands-on from full time Fleet staff who mentor them. You can read more about the program here.

Nathaniel Imrie is a Senior at Memorial High school.

Carlos Hernandez is a Senior at LaFollette High school.

Terrell Washington is a Senior at East High School.

Corbin Schoer is a Senior at LaFollette High School who is continuing his learning at Water Utility.
