Plant of the Week: Packera Aurea

Go Pack Go! This week, we're rooting for Packera Aurea! This bright Yellow and Green species is also known as Golden Ragwort or Butterweed. Packera is an easy-to-grow, deer-resistant native perennial valued for its profuse bloom in early summer. Since it can bloom as early as mid-May, its nectar and pollen are attractive to many small bee species that rely on early-season nectar and pollen. Packera spreads by an underground rhizome to form a colony that suppresses weeds. It prefers sunlight and consistent moisture, but will tolerate dryer conditions when planted in some shade.
So load up your tailgate with soil and put on your yellow caps, so you can help us root for Packera Aurea!
