Project Update

October 02, 2023
Bid due date was on August 31, 2023. Two bids were received. Based on the bids received, both were above the estimate. The Community Development Authority of the City of Madison has decided that neither vendor will be awarded this RFB at this time. The project will be re-bid with two separate bid packages, one for the Parking Structure and re-aligned drive area, and the other bid package will be for the site improvements only for the central green space and central parking lot area.  Please see the updated Project Schedule below.

Project Overview

Design and construction, including site development, for Village on Park Improvements located at 2300 South Park Street. The first phase of work includes demolition of the north wing of the Villager Mall building and construction of a new surface parking lot that is planned to be constructed and completed in the summer of 2022. The second phase of site development includes the new Urban League Hub building and the proposed parking structure garage. The parking structure will have approximately 295 parking stalls above grade with approximately 6-levels. It will operate as a fully automated self-parking structure. The Parking Structure project is part of the second phase of an overall master plan for the ongoing development of the Village on Park campus. The Urban League Black Business Hub building will be designed and constructed by the Urban League of Greater Madison and is planned to begin construction in the spring of 2022 with construction completion and occupancy in the summer of 2023. The new parking structure garage will provide tenant parking for the Urban League Hub tenants and other Village on Park/Villager Mall tenants and visitors.  Watch the progress on our project Flickr page.  For additional information please see the City of Madison DPCED Planning South Madison Plan

The project is currently in the construction document phase. Recent committee reviews include approval by the Urban Design Commission on December 14, 2022, and approval by the Plan Commission on January 9, 2023 as noted in the City Process Meetings section below.  Also take a look at the updated renderings of the proposed new parking structure further down on this page.
