UPDATE: Project Complete

Project Description

This project will involve the replacement of pavement, city utilities, curb and gutter, and sidewalk on North Bassett Street from West Gorham Street to West Dayton Street. As part of this project, the City is proposing to install an off-street bike lane, adjacent to the sidewalk on both sides of the street, which will provide for two-way biking on N. Bassett St.  Two accommodate the new bike lanes, Bassett St. will be narrowed, but the street will still provide for two travel lanes, along with the loading zone area between University Ave. and Conklin Pl.  A new traffic signal is also proposed for the intersection of Bassett and Gorham, which will improve the safety of the pedestrian and bike crossings at the intersection.  New pedestrian scale lighting will also be installed as part of the project.

The City is also working with the private utilities to underground the overhead lines within the project limits. MG&E will be starting work on Bassett St. on 7/5/17. Work under the City contract will be starting on 7/10/17. The project will include work within the intersections of Dayton St., Johnson St. and Gorham St., so lane closures will be necessary. Bassett St. will be closed during construction, but open to local traffic only.
