Guidance for when employees can use EPL has been updated by the city. Those situations are:

  • An employee or an immediate family member has a COVID‐19 diagnosis or is in quarantine or isolation due to COVID‐19
  • An employee or their immediate family member(s) needs to obtain a COVID‐19 vaccination, including boosters, and to recover from the effects of a COVID vaccine
  • An employee needs to care for their child or another individual who cannot care for themselves due to the closure of their school, childcare facility, or another care program due to COVID‐ 19
  • Either a positive at home test or a positive PCR test is needed to access EPL

Employees should stay home if they have COVID symptoms and take a COVID test. Use your sick or other paid time unless you have a positive COVID test.

Appropriate documentation is necessary for EPL to be used for the above situations. All other situations need to be covered by other available paid leave balances or approved unpaid leave.

  • EPL is not available for absences prior to 1/9/22 or after 12/10/22
  • If you are out of EPL, you must use your own paid time
  • If you are out of all paid time, you can contact Fran Taylor (608-266-8751) for a form to take unpaid time off for an eligible COVID related situation
  • EPL is not to be used for any situation not related to COVID. It is not available for
    respite.
