Dear Colleagues…

Good afternoon. Today we are issuing APM 2-53 (COVID-19 Vaccination/Testing Policy). This policy addresses:

  1. The City’s required COVID-19 Vaccination Attestation form,
  2. Testing requirements for unvaccinated staff, and
  3. Requests for medical and religious accommodations.

Please note that by this Friday, October 1st, regardless of your vaccination status, all City of Madison staff must submit a COVID-19 vaccination attestation form to their supervisor or their agency’s COVID-19 designee. Please fill this out immediately if you have not already done so.

Beginning the week of October 18th, weekly COVID-19 testing protocols will begin for all unvaccinated staff. Testing details will not be finalized until after collecting attestation forms and having a more accurate understanding of our workforce. Supervisors and unvaccinated staff should expect a follow-up communication with details on this process in the coming weeks.

Finally, I would like to thank you all for your patience – the varying levels of comfort and anxiety have been duly noted over the past year and a half. It is respectfully understood that there is not a City response that will satisfy everyone regarding COVID-19. Within the past few months, we have received a wide range of feedback from City Staff. City staff has strongly encouraged us to do everything from “absolutely nothing” to “Mandating vaccinations AND weekly testing for everyone.” The approach we are taking is an attempt to support the diverse needs of our workforce while trying to keep our staff, guests, and community safe.
