During a Flood

Flooding from August 2018 near Breese Stevens Field and North Brearly Street.

Flooding impacts communities quickly, financially, emotionally and physically. Click through the tabs for resources to use during a flooding event. Below, find some quick need-to-know information. In the sidebar menu, find expanded information and more resources.

What to do

Learn what to do when flooding is imminent, and during a flood. Always remember to "Turn Around, Don’t Drown." Avoid walking or driving through floodwaters.

How to Sandbag

There may be a time when all that stands between a home and the rising floodwaters are some sandbags. The City put together a sandbag guide to help you in case you're ever in need of a barrier. The City put together some easy, step-by-step instructions on how to fill and place sandbags, in addition to a demonstrative video showing proper technique.

Sandbag Locations

Free sand and ready-to-fill bags are available to City residents at a number of locations across the City.
