At Fleet, we strive for continuous improvement. We bring regular professional development opportunities to our team, as well as specialized training to keep up-to-date with the newest technologies. We are also preparing the next generation of the workforce by giving local teens hands-on automotive experience. Finally, we enjoy sharing our lessons learned with other organizations and fleets. We collaborate with local fleet leaders to keep pushing our industry forward.

Youth Apprenticeships

Since 2018, we have partnered with the Madison Metropolitan School District to offer a hands-on apprenticeship opportunity to local juniors and seniors in high school.

Every year, we recruit four apprentices to join our team. They each work at least 450 hours, earning a living wage and school credit for their efforts. Most importantly, they work alongside and are mentored by our very own fleet technicians, who share years of experience and tricks of the trade with the apprentices.

Please contact our main office if you want to learn more about this opportunity.

Professional Development

Our team members are one of our greatest assets - without them, essential city services would come to a halt. We provide as many opportunities as possible for our technicians to learn, grow, and improve their skill set. We set up maintenance tutorials on new equipment, service training for specialized pieces of equipment, and share emerging best practices.

In addition, we offer a career ladder for our technicians to earn more as they increase their skills. The career ladder follows the Automotive Service Excellence tests to become a Certified Master Automobile Technician or a Certified Master Medium-Heavy Truck Technician, as well as the Emergency Vehicle Technician Certification tests.

Tours & Presentations

Curious about what the inside of our garage looks like? Interested in a career as an automotive technician? We offer group presentations and tours of our main garage to schools and organizations interested in our work. Please call our main office to learn more.
