Redesign Starts in June!

Metro will implement its complete redesign on Sunday, June 11, 2023! This will be considered a soft launch of the new service to allow drivers time to report in on how routes are operating and for staff to determine if any adjustments might need to be made.

Operations and Planning will monitor the new service through June, identify tweaks that might need to be addressed, and make minor service changes again that will go into effect with the August driver pick.

BRT Groundbreaking Event

Email from Mayor Satya

Dear Colleagues –

We did it! In less than four years, we envisioned, commissioned and broke ground on the East-West bus rapid transit line. I was delighted to welcome Governor Tony Evers and Secretary of Transportation Craig Thompson to a festive event last week.

Watch Event

An enormous number of City staff helped with this effort, which was spearheaded by Tom Lynch in our Department of Transportation, with the able assistance of Justin Stuehrenberg and his team at Metro Transit. Countless other departments lent a hand including, Engineering, Planning, Finance, Parking, Traffic Engineering, Economic Development, MPD, MPO, DCR and more. It has been, and will continue to be, a Team City effort.

To all the Metro staff that have been working so hard for so many years to get Madisonians from their homes to their destinations – thank you. To those of you who worked to explain transportation infrastructure options to our community and really listened to their feedback – thank you. To those who shoveled the snow and dealt with the minutia of planning a major event like this groundbreaking – thank you.

You are helping change Madison for the better.

Warmly,

Mayor Satya

New Metro Maintenance Chief

Email from Justin Stuehrenberg

Metro Team,

I'm excited to announce that Anthony DiCristofano has accepted the position of Chief Maintenance Officer for Metro Transit.

Anthony has been working in transit for over 30 years. He has worked on complex transit projects in both the public and private sector in various cities and agencies across North America such as Chicago, Toronto, Washington DC, Detroit, Cincinnati, Milwaukee, Santa Rosa and San Francisco. He advocates for the workers while striving for overall improvements. One of his proudest work accomplishments was playing a pivotal role in the successful creation of a startup commuter rail system in Northern California. He is particularly excited about the BRT system and accompanying electric buses at Metro.

Anthony will be starting on December 27th (one week from today), which is also the first day for our Chief Operating Officer, Ayodeji Arojo. He will be sitting in the current Operations Conference Room, and a new conference room will be established in the newly reconstructed space.

Please welcome Anthony to the team!

Justin

New Employee Room

Email from Josh Marty

As of last week's retirement banquet, Metro has taken possession of the new drivers lounge/break area and restrooms. There have been questions surrounding the new exterior doors on Ingersoll St, for the time being they are exit only. There are a number of final touches that will be worked out in the coming weeks as materials become available.

Employees are welcome to use and enjoy the new space, thank you for everyone’s patience through this construction.

Employees are to remain out of the active construction spaces of parts and loading dock areas.
