Fraudulent Emails
Regarding fraudulent emails purported to be sent to vendors by the City of Madison Finance Department / Purchasing Services:
The City of Madison domain is "cityofmadison.com". All emails using other domains are fraudulent and should be disregarded.
The City of Madison has received feedback from the community regarding emails that look like they are originating from our Finance Department and Purchasing Services for goods and/or invoice payments. Examples of these email domains, which obfuscate the "cityofmadison.com" domain, are "city-of-madison.com," "cityofmadison.org" and "cityoffmadison.com". We suspect that whomever has registered these domains are sending emails to the business community requesting hardware/software or invoice payment on behalf of the city. Please be aware that these emails are fraudulent, are not sent on behalf of the City of Madison and should be disregarded.
