As a City of Madison voter, you track your absentee ballot status using https://MyVote.wi.gov.  This past weekend My Vote indicated that your November ballot was issued.  Tonight your My Vote record says nothing about your November ballot.
 
You are one of over 1,000 voters who will be receiving a letter from the Madison City Clerk’s Office, notifying you that your absentee ballot cannot be mailed until you provide the office with a photocopy or picture of your photo ID.
 
Today the Government Accountability Board informed municipal clerks that the photo ID requirement applies retroactively to absentee requests that were processed before last week’s court ruling.
 
No ID is required for absentee voters who automatically receive an absentee ballot for every election because they are indefinitely confined to their homes due to age or disability.
 
The following forms of photo ID are the only types of ID that are acceptable for voting purposes:
 

• Wisconsin driver license expiring no earlier than 11/6/2012
• Wisconsin DOT-issued photo ID card expiring no earlier than 11/6/2012
• U.S. passport expiring no earlier than 11/6/2012
• Military ID card expiring no earlier than 11/6/2012
• Certificate of naturalization issued within last 2 years
• Unexpired Wisconsin driver license or state ID receipt
• ID card issued by a federally recognized Indian tribe in Wisconsin
• Unexpired ID issued by a Wisconsin accredited university or college—must contain issuance date, student signature, and expiration date within 2 years of issuance, along with proof of current enrollment.

 Your ID card does not need to list your current address.
