Last Day to Request Absentee Ballots Sent by Mail

As of noon on Thursday, October 30, the City of Madison has issued 13,288 absentee ballots for the November election.

The City Clerk’s Office has issued 6,706 absentee ballots to voters at the counter: 352 so far today, 999 on Wednesday, 905 on Tuesday, 817 on Monday, 830 last Friday, 645 last Thursday, 734 last Wednesday, 715 last Tuesday, and 709 last Monday.

Photo ID is not required for the November election.  Voter registration and absentee voting are available in the City Clerk’s Office today and tomorrow from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.  Voter lines have been very short, even over the lunch hour.

Most voters wishing to receive an absentee ballot through the mail need to have an absentee ballot request delivered to the City Clerk’s Office by 5 p.m. today—postmarks do not count.  The easiest way to request that the City Clerk’s Office mail you a ballot is to send an e-mail message to voting@cityofmadison.com with your name, address at which you are registered to vote, and address to which the ballot should be mailed.

Voters who are indefinitely confined to their homes get an extra day to request that the Clerk's Office mail them an absentee ballot.

For comparison, the City Clerk’s Office issued 12,121 absentee ballots for the November 2010 election, including 5,550 absentee ballots issued to voters at the counter.
