The Madison City Clerk’s Office is hosting a mock election for children to learn about the voting process firsthand through a superhero themed election.
 
The youth election will be held on Wednesday, July 29, at the Madison Central Library from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in conjunction with their Summer Carnival. All children are encouraged to come and vote on their favorite superpower, superhero and supergroup.
 
The ballot will include:
 
Superpower
 

  • Flying
  • Speed
  • Invisibility
  • Strength
  • Time Travel
  • Telepathy (read minds)
  • Flexibility
  • Talking to animals

 
Superhero
 

  • Batman
  • Superman
  • Capt. Underpants
  • Iron Man
  • Wonder Woman
  • Batgirl
  • Storm
  • Miss Marvel

 
Supergroup
 

  • Avengers
  • Fantastic 4
  • Incredibles

 
Children will be able to create their own Kid Voter ID, sign a poll book, and vote using our official election equipment. Each child who votes will receive an “I Voted” sticker.
 
Information about our youth poster design contest will also be provided to children at this event. The design contest seeks children’s artwork that shows why voting is a superpower to our community.
