The City of Madison has issued 9,016 absentee ballots as of noon on Friday, October 24.

The City Clerk’s Office has issued 3,103 absentee ballots to voters at the counter: 709 on Monday, 715 on Tuesday, 734 on Wednesday, 645 on Thursday and 300 so far today. 
 
Voters can anticipate getting through the absentee voting line in less time than it took in 2010.  The longest wait to register and vote in the City Clerk’s Office this week has been ten minutes.
 
Photo ID is not be required for the November election.  Voter registration and absentee voting are available in the City Clerk’s Office weekdays, October 20-31, from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.  State law now prohibits in-person absentee voting on Saturday or Sunday.

For comparison, the City Clerk’s Office issued 12,121 absentee ballots for the November 2010 election, including 5,550 absentee ballots issued to voters at the counter.
