The first public involvement meeting for the reconstruction of Pleasant View Road in the City of Madison and City of Middleton will take place at Middleton City Hall, Council Chambers, 7426 Hubbard Avenue, Middleton, WI 53562, from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, June 28, 2018. The project extends approximately 2.5 miles along Pleasant View Road from Mineral Point Road to US 14.

The meeting will be conducted in an informal, open house format to allow for dialogue and individual questions and comments. A brief presentation will be given at 6:15 p.m. The City of Madison, City of Middleton, and design consultant representatives will be available to discuss the proposed project and address questions or concerns.

The current rural, two-lane design of Pleasant View Road cannot accommodate the current and growing traffic volumes. The proposed project will include reconstruction of the existing roadway as an urban arterial with curb and gutter, a raised median, new multi-use path/sidewalk in selected areas, Americans with Disabilities Act compliant curb ramps, storm sewer, new and replacement of sanitary sewer and water main, new street lighting, pavement marking and signing. The Old Sauk Road intersection will not be reconstructed; however, the existing pavement will be milled, and a new layer of asphalt pavement will be constructed. Stormwater detention ponds will be constructed to control and improve stormwater quality.

Persons with a concern for or knowledge about historic buildings and structures and archaeological sites are encouraged to attend this meeting or provide comments to the local units of government or the consultant.

The project is currently in the preliminary design phase with design completion anticipated in August 2020. Construction will be completed in phases with Phase 1 construction (Greenway Boulevard to US 14) anticipated to begin as early as 2021. Phase 2 (Old Sauk Road to Greenway Blvd) and Phase 3 (Mineral Point Road to Old Sauk Road) will follow in consecutive years.

Property owners will be assessed for the project’s local share in accordance with City of Madison and City of Middleton policy.
