LakeFrontRow Presents UW-Madison Cinematic Vision – Student short film showcase
In May, the “LakeFront Cinema” series turns its eye toward young artists with the latest and greatest from UW-Madison’s student filmmakers. This collection of shorts spans a variety of genres and styles from independent projects to expanded production exercises, showing the immense talent of Wisconsin’s undergraduate and graduate film students. Curated with the help of Aaron Granat, a video instructor in UW-Madison’s Communication Arts department, select filmmakers will also appear in person to present their work and answer questions following the screening. Pieces include: "Invisible Men" (Alex Jackson) - a moody dramatic short exploring African-American alienation; “Daylight News” (Hamidreza Nassiri) - an insightful look at media consumption. Shot in Tehran, it will be making its United States premiere; and “Shaving Performance” (Catie Rutledge, Nina Ham) - video artwork that challenges assumptions about the divisions between public and private spheres.
