Madison & Dane County Public Health Department has tested the water quality at all of the City public beaches. The bacterial water quality is at an acceptable level. The beaches are now open.

The Madison Parks Lifeguards will be staffing the beaches starting today, Wednesday June 18.

Please be aware of some special concerns with the continued high water levels in the lakes. Most beaches lack a sand beach area. If there is a sandy area, there are many ruts and we ask that beach users take extra care when walking on the beach or in the water. Also, swimmers and parents of swimmers need to be aware of the high water levels. What was once knee or waist level, may now be shoulder or above the swimmers head. Parents should keep a watchful eye on their children.

The maintenance and repair work of the beaches will be addressed as soon as the water recedes.

For beach hours and locations, please see Parks website.
