Stranger Sexual Assault

It will be two years ago this coming Monday (October 15, 2007) that a bright young UW graduate student was viciously raped near the 2000 block of Eastwood Drive. The 22 year old had come to Madison that fall semester in pursuit of fulfilling lifelong educational dreams. She would end up being violently assaulted by a stranger. Around 8:15 p.m. on October 15th, 2005 the student was on her way to a coffee house. She was walking just past the intersection of Division Street and Eastwood Drive when she realized someone was behind her. The suspect grabbed the victim and pulled her into a nearby grassy area. There he sexually assaulted the victim and threatened to kill her. The victim did not detect an accent, but did tell investigators her attacker had a deep voice. Before the suspect ran off, he took from the student a 12" by 12" green silk purse. It had a reddish pink design embroidered on its' sides.

The suspect is described as an Asian male in his mid to late 20's; 5'08" tall with an average build, unkempt collar length black hair and well-defined cheekbones. He was wearing black pants, a gray sweatshirt, and a black ball cap.

The Madison Police department remains committed to finding this assailant, and detectives believe there are people in the community who can help identify this rapist.
