Yahara River to close (at East Washington Avenue)

The City of Madison and the Wisconsin Department of Transportation are planning to close the Yahara River at East Washington Avenue from Monday August 21 through Tuesday August 22. The closure is necessary to safely remove the remaining portions of the existing Yahara River Bridge. Dane County has been asked to close the Tenny Lock at Lake Mendota until the river reopens to boat traffic. For information about the status of the locks call Dane County 608-246-3896.

The Yahara River Bridge is being completely replaced with the East Washington Avenue Project. The existing bridge was constructed in 1905, widened in 1939 and widened again in 1950.
