On Wednesday July 8th, 2015, the Madison Police Department, in conjunction with Capital K9’s, will introduce its newest member to the K9 Patrol Unit, “Jagger” and his Handler Officer Disch.  Jagger is a 1 ½ year old German Sheppard/Malinois mix, and has received approximately 8-weeks of certification training, both in North Carolina http://www.tarheelcanine.com/ and here in Madison.  Jagger is a “dual purpose” dog that has the capabilities of performing building searches, tracking missing persons/suspects, article searches, narcotics detection, and suspect apprehensions.

Jagger will have city-wide responsibilities, and assist neighboring jurisdictions.  The Madison Police Department is very fortunate to have such an addition to its K9 Unit, and thanks all the donors (BerbeeWalsh Foundation) who have made contributions that led directly to the expansion of our K9 program, and are responsible for our newest MPD K9 Team.  The Madison Police Department K9 Unit is vitally important in the work that we do on a daily basis, and creates a secure atmosphere for all area residents.  It is our hope that you will join us in welcoming our latest addition to the Madison Police Department K9 Unit.
