There will be a new collection schedule in the City of Madison for the Thanksgiving holiday. Residents in the Thursday refuse collection district will have their refuse and recycling collected on Wednesday November 22nd, the day before Thanksgiving. Residents in the Friday collection district will have their material collected on Monday November 27th, the first working day after holiday.

In the past residents of the Thursday and Friday refuse districts did not receive collection over the two day City holiday.

“Last year was the first time we used this new Thanksgiving collection schedule,” Madison recycling coordinator George Dreckmann said. “This change was very popular with the residents of the Thursday and Friday collection areas who now receive a collection that they did not get under the old system.”

Residents should be sure to consult their collection calendars to determine if their recyclables are scheduled for collection Thanksgiving week.
