The City of Madison has concluded the annual spring leaf collection. Every neighborhood in the City received two rounds of collection.

"This was a record spring for leaves and garden waste," recycling coordinator George Dreckmann said. "We collected 2,410 tons of material this year which is almost 500 tons above the previous record set in 2005."

Residents who have leaves and garden debris to dispose of must now bring that material to the yard waste drop off sites.

The yard waste sites are open from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. They will be open on Tuesday and Thursday from 8:30 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. The sites are located at 4602 Sycamore Av. on the east side, 1501 W. Badger Rd. on the south side and 402 South Point Rd. on the west side. Brush is not accepted at 402 South Point Rd.

The sites are for the use of City of Madison residents only. People wishing to use the sites should have some identification that shows they either live or own property in the City of Madison.

The Streets Division will continue to collect brush on a monthly schedule through October. Brush is considered tree and shrub trimmings over 18" in length.
