The City of Madison will begin the annual Spring Leaf Collection on Monday April 7th. Each neighborhood will receive a minimum of two collections. The spring collection is scheduled to run through Friday May 2nd.

Again this year, there will be no leaf collection schedule. Streets Division crews will begin collecting leaves in Monday's refuse collection districts. After completing collection in Monday's areas, crews will move into Tuesday's districts, then Wednesday's districts, followed by the Thursday and then Friday refuse districts. Upon completion of Friday's refuse districts, crews will begin the cycle again in Monday's districts.

It is difficult to predict when leaf collection crews will be in a given area due to the uncertainty of workloads. The Streets Division has several options you can use to get the latest information on where our crews are working and when we hope to get to a given area.

"It is very important that residents not mix their leaves and garden waste with brush," Madison recycling coordinator George Dreckmann said. "Piles of mixed material cannot be collected."

Brush is considered woody tree and shrub trimmings at least 18" in length. Brush is collected separately on a monthly basis from April through October. Brush collection information is also available by calling 267-2088.

Yard Waste Drop Off Sites Open March 29th

The City of Madison yard waste sites open for the season on Saturday March 29th. They will remain open through Sunday December 7th.

The yard waste sites will be open from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. They will be open on Tuesday and Thursday from 8:30 a.m. until 8:00 p.m.

The sites are located at 4602 Sycamore Av. on the east side, 1501 W. Badger Rd. on the south side and 402 South Point Rd. on the west side. Brush is not accepted at 402 South Point Rd.

The sites are for the use of City of Madison residents only. People wishing to use the sites should have some identification that shows they either live or own property in the City of Madison.
