Large item collection for Madison’s west side will be completed Friday,

Refuse and Recycling Information
Streets Division crews for the west side of Madison have completed refuse and recycling collection for residents with a scheduled pickup for Thursday, February 7, 2019.

Icy roads forced delays, but all scheduled refuse and recycling routes for the Thursday collection district for the west side of Madison have been completed.

East side collections did not experience delays today.

Large Item Collection Information
Large item collection service for the west side of Madison was halted earlier today and that personnel was reassigned to sanding duties in response to the ice. The scheduled large item collection was partially complete at the time the crews were reassigned.

Residents who have a scheduled large item pickup for Thursday, February 7 and did not have their items collected should leave them out for collection. Please remember that items frozen to the curb may not be picked up, so please be sure they are accessible.

On Friday, February 8, 2019, large item crews will return to Thursday collection district to complete the scheduled collection service that began on February 7.

Upon completion of the scheduled collection in the Thursday district, large item crews will begin the regularly scheduled large item collection for Friday, February 8, 2019. There are no anticipated delays for scheduled large item collection for residents within the Friday collection district.

East side large item crews did not experience delays.

What is the “west side” of Madison to the Streets Division?
For Streets Division operations, the west side of Madison are addresses to the west of South Park Street. Residents to the east of S. Park Street are part of the east side operations.

Why was the west side delayed and not the east side?
The Thursday collection district on the west side of Madison contains more hills in untreated residential neighborhoods than the east side. Due to the icy conditions, the Streets Division collection trucks had difficulty navigating the slippery roadways and needed to wait until the roads were sanded.
