Madison Public Library is committed to the health and safety of our staff and the public, and are working closely with the City of Madison and Public Health of Madison and Dane County to monitor developing information and to be proactive and take precautions to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Based on current recommendations, we are cancelling the Pinney Grand Opening Weekend events on Saturday, March 14 and Sunday, March 15.  The Pinney Library - and all Madison Public Libraries - will remain open and regular services will continue.

This decision was not made lightly.  In addition to public health guidelines for large gatherings, we have also had multiple cancellations by event performers and participants of the event, and are prioritizing core library service over this much-anticipated community celebration.  We were incredibly grateful to share our Pinney Ribbon Cutting event with more than 300 neighbors and friends yesterday [see event photos and videotaped remarks], and encourage you to follow CDC and Public Health Madison & Dane County guidelines for people who should limit their exposure with the public when deciding to visit our libraries.
