Material will be collected on Monday July 7th

There will be no refuse or recycling collection in the City of Madison on Friday July 4th due to the Independence Day holiday. Residents who have their refuse and recycling collected on Friday will have their material collected on Monday July 7th. Residents in Monday's refuse collection district will also have their material collected on the 7th.

"Because of the double collection on Monday the 7th it is important that residents have their material out on time," Madison Recycling Coordinator George Dreckmann said. "East side residents should have their material out by 6 a.m. on the 7th and west side residents should have their material out by 7 a.m."

Because of the holiday, the Streets Division's large item service will be curtailed. Residents are asked to hold off putting out large items, such as appliances and furniture until the week of July 14th.

Brush collection in Monday's area will begin as scheduled on July 7th. Residents in Monday's area should have their brush at the curb by 7 a.m. on Monday the 7th to insure collection sometime during the week.

The City of Madison yard waste drop off sites will be open from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. on July 4th.
