Local Charities Benefit From Golf Event

For the past nine years the Madison Professional Police Officers Association and the Association of Madison Police Supervisors, the unions representing commissioned personnel of the City of Madison Police Department, have organized an annual charity golf event to raise money for a variety of local charities. To date they have raised over $77,000 for local charities such as The Ronald McDonald House, Law Enforcement Memorial, The Susan G Komen Foundation, Safe Harbor, UW Children's Hospital, Madison Area Crime Stoppers, Hospice, Capital K-9's, Dane County Victim/Witness, Meals on Wheels, and Dane County's Crime Response Program.

The 2008 event was held September 12 at the Pleasant View Golf Course in Middleton. This year's charitable recipients of the event were RSVP (Retired Senior Volunteer Program) of Dane County Volunteers and the Foundation for Madison's Public School's High School Athletics Endowment Fund. The outing raised over $11,000 this year, which will be split between the two charities. The men and women of the Madison Police Department continue to share a strong sense of community here in Madison and recognize the importance of doing their part to support charitable organizations that make a positive difference.
