MADISON PARKS FOUNDATION’S EVENTS CELEBRATES 121 YEARS OF MADISON PARKS
 
From the time Madison’s first park, Tenney Park, was developed in the early 1900s to the splash parks at Elver and Reindahl parks making their debut this summer, Madison residents and visitors have been uniquely blessed with beautiful, well maintained, free and accessible parks and open spaces. The Madison Parks Foundation will mark the 120th anniversary of the Madison Park and Pleasure Drive Association, the private, citizen-led effort to establish leisure and recreation activities for all to enjoy, with two upcoming public events. The celebration of Madison’s robust park system of 5,500 acres of park land, 266 parks and 176 playgrounds will feature live music, food and drink, ice cream and golf and highlights two of the city’s finest outdoor amenities—an historic sporting arena and a golf course. 
 
Free Concert in the Breese
Tuesday July 14, 6:30-10:00 p.m.
Breese Stevens Field
 
Built in 1923, Breese Stevens is the oldest playing field in Madison and was once home to all Madison high school football games and 1940s minor league baseball team Madison Blues. In a blues revival of sorts, Breese Stevens will rock to The Jimmys, a blues, soul and R&B ensemble as well as the musical talents of Mark Croft and his band, Mark Croft,  an Award-Winning Singer/Songwriter, is one of the most distinguished musicians to ignite the acoustic music scene .
 
 
Legacy Golf Outing
Friday July 17, 10 a.m. registration/11 a.m. start
Yahara Hills Golf Course
 
Built in 1967, Madison’s largest golf course, the scenic, 400-acre Yahara Hills, is hosting the Madison Parks Foundation’s inaugural golf scramble. The festivities include golf, cart, lunch, door prizes, a raffle and a reception. Register at on the Madison Parks Foundation website.
