The City of Madison is pleased to announce the appointment of Karin Wolf as its new Arts Administrator. The position is responsible for working closely with the Madison Arts Commission to carry out the initiatives of the City’s municipal arts program.

Scott Thornton, Chair of the Commission, said, "I'm impressed with the creative ideas and energy that Karin Wolf brings with her to the Arts Administrator position. I'm looking forward to Karin coming on board with the City and working with her on the Madison Arts Commission."

Ms. Wolf brings leadership in visual arts project management, research, writing, and educational programs. She most recently served as the Special Programs Coordinator in the Community Outreach Department of the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design. Before that attended graduate school in Curriculum and Instruction at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and worked as an educational assistant at the Madison Art Center, now the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art. She is also a long time supporter of the arts and arts education, and is involved with many community organizations in establishing exhibitions and public art projects.

“I am delighted to have been selected to lead the City of Madison’s Art Program and to bring my passion for the arts back to Dane County.” Wolf said. “The fact that this position is housed within the Department of Planning and Development shows that Madison has a strong commitment to incorporating art as an integral part of the urban design process and reveals the City’s faithfulness to the values of the citizens who enjoy and wish to maintain a strong creative community. It is very exciting to be invited to support this vision for role of art in the City of Madison.” She added that, “It is also a privilege to be working with a very knowledgeable and dedicated Arts Commission and within a large local professional network that is home to some of the most devoted individuals in the arts.”

Ms. Wolf replaces Rebecca Kasemeyer who resigned in July to take a position with the University of Wisconsin.
