BLINK Temporary Public Art Program

If you bike around the Lake Monona, paddle down the Yahara River, or cruise down Willy St. this gorgeous Labor Day weekend you may notice environmental installation Artist, Eric Melton-White creating Living Lanterns, the next BLINK temporary public art project. Living Lanterns, is a string of small individual photovoltaic solar powered light sculptures. The 15 sculptural lanterns, measuring about 8-15 inches, will hang in a stand of trees, like cocoons and then cascade down across the river, glowing alive at night. You will be able to enjoy these beautiful illuminated forms where the Yahara River meets the Williamson Street from September 1 - November 1, 2008. Take the time to enjoy a late summer to early fall evening by experiencing this subtle magical-realist installation that celebrates the beauty of our natural environment.
