Lake Edge Park Ribbon Cutting
 
A ribbon cutting ceremony will celebrate the opening of the new shelter at Lake Edge Park. Mayor Soglin, Parks Assistant Superintendent Kay Rutledge, Alder David Ahrens along with Lake Edge Neighborhood Association members and the community will officially open the shelter on Thursday, June 16 at 6:00 pm. Event goers will enjoy a selection of food cart options for purchase provided by Let’s Eat Out.

“This unique shelter will proudly serve as a wonderful gathering place for the Lake Edge neighborhood,” said Lake Edge Neighborhood Association president, Angela Jenkins.
 
Lake Edge Park was originally dedicated to the Town of Blooming Grove in 1909 and was a total of 4.14 Acres. After a re-subdivision and additional lands, the park was conveyed from the Town of Blooming Grove to the City of Madison in 1961.
 
The new modern design shelter is made with natural materials and features a 756 sf. ft. covered area with picnic tables, electricity, ADA accessible restrooms and a drinking fountain with water bottle filler. The Lake Edge Park shelter joins over 20 other Madison Parks shelters which are reservable online.
