Madison firefighters have left the scene of a stubborn warehouse fire at 314 Atlas Avenue on the city’s east side. A fire crew maintained an overnight fire watch after a daylong battle with fire and ice that began yesterday morning shortly after 6:00 a.m.

The exact cause of the 2-alarm fire remains under investigation, but investigators from the Madison Fire Investigation Division, along with investigators from the Department of Criminal Investigation and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) have concluded that the origin of the fire was in a maintenance room.  A few potential causes are being investigated at this time. There is no evidence that suggests this was an intentionally set fire.

The amount of damage to the building is expected to reach between 1 and 2 million dollars.
