The Madison Police Department, along with other law enforcement agencies and higher education institutions, is hosting a law enforcement recruitment fair April 12.

Employees from MPD, the Department of Justice, UW-Madison, UW-Platteville and other agencies will have booths at the fair. MPD employees will be ready to discuss the qualifications needed to join the department, automatic disqualifications, estimated salaries, benefits and other frequently asked questions.

“There’s been a shortage nationwide of people applying to be an officer. We know this profession isn’t for everyone," said MPD Training and Recruiting Sergeant Theresa Magyera. "But we also know there are a lot of compassionate people in our community who would make great officers, and we want to give them a chance to connect with us."

The recruitment fair is taking place from 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. at the Madison Police Department’s Training Center on Femrite Drive.

This was the recruitment fair originally scheduled for Feb. 16, but postponed due to weather.
